Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning ‘a little course’. Cursillo, which begins on a Thursday night through to Sunday afternoon, helps us to look at ourselves and our relationships with others and God, through a series of talks. Consider joining us on February 19-22, 2026, for the men’s weekend. Contact Eileen and David Sleightholm, your diocesan contacts, at eileenetms@hotmail.ca or 519-524-9400 for to register. The Family of the Month Committee for the Goderich K of C 5420 selects one parish family each month that models Christian family values and visibly lives them each day. The Family of the Month for January is the Slatter family from St. Peter’s Goderich. The Slatter family consists of Mike, Charlotte, MacKenzie and Jaxon. They live in Auburn however you will see the family in Goderich at the arena and the soccer field. Both children are active in sports. Mike is a train engineer for a class 1 railroad, CPKC. Charlotte is a French Immersion teacher at St. Mary’s School here in Goderich. MacKenzie is in Grade 8 and is one of the helpers in the Sunday School program here at St. Peter’s. She will be attending St. Anne’s Secondary School next year. Jaxon is in Grade 4 and has discovered his love of hockey this year. Both children take part in the Children’s Church Service on Good Friday. Charlotte says this about their faith.. “Our faith is part of our everyday lives where we share it with our classmates and students at school and through service. Charlotte, MacKenzie and Jaxon take part in the Sunday Mass through different roles. Charlotte through hospitality and a Eucharistic minister. MacKenzie through her leadership in Sunday School. Jaxon is ready to help during Mass, such as always volunteering to light the Advent Wreath Candles. Both children have taken part in the sacraments and have had an opportunity to do this with their friends, developing their faith not just with their family but friends also.” The Slatter family considers themselves blessed and grateful to have been chosen as Family of the Month. We, as the Lake Huron Catholic Family of Parishes, feel blessed to have this wonderful family at St. Peter’s Parish Goderich!
